Electric Acoustic Guitar to Macbook Pro

I am trying to find a cheap, but good quality way of hooking up my electric acoustic guitar to my macbook pro. I see there is a usb cable out there thats cheap but i don't know how good the quality is. Any insight would be great.

Also, how will i be able to record the electric acoustic without the mic picking up the sound coming off the guitar?

There are several alternatives for getting the output of your guitar into your MBP. If you use Garageband for recording it (included with iLife) you can select the input and ignore mic pickup.

DI-ing, Directly inputting (plugging from jack into the interface/computer) with an Electro-Acoustic guitar usually sounds naff.

the way you'd get the best sound, is by using a nice condenser microphone, with an audio interface. this picks up some of the room sound, which you hear when you are playing, and sounds alot more natural than the completely dry DI signal.

from this i am guessing you are already doing this and want the dry signal separately?
