On the ATV, can it store movies to watch when internet is not available? If so, how much storage? I did try to research this and find out on the net. They boast streaming, but I couldn't find out how much media it will store if any.

The ATV 1 came with up to a 160Gb Hard drive for storage. It was slow and clunky. The ATV 2 doesn't come with any storage and will only stream media.

Thanks Baggss
That answers my question. I knew I read somewhere that the Apple TV stored media, but didn't realize they changed it. So what, in your opinion, would be a good option to stream and store for viewing later?

I have both generations of ATV and frankly I can't stand the ATV 1. The interface was never responsive, it got hot enough to fry and egg on and it always makes me want to punch my TV. My ATV 2 has worked flawlessly since it's purchase and I discovered that I'd rather have all the media available and not just a small fraction. I'm planning on getting a second one for my home office.

Thanks for the info guy. I'll have to do some looking around to see what's available.

Baggss,
I am still working with a 160g ATV1 and am thinking of adding a second. I would love to switch to the ATV2 but I dont want to have to wake up my desktop to stream to them. Do you have a better suggestion?

Yes, don't put your desktop to sleep. You can have the system dim the display but just disable sleep. I never put my desktop(s) to sleep, even before I had my ATV 2 so it's never been an issue for me. Other than that I don't really have any advice. You could just buy a used ATV 1 off of E-Bay or Craigslist.
