It looks like our wireless gateway is dying. Any recommendations on a good one that is under $100?

Pretty sure that's usually supplied by the ISP. Have you called them?

Not according to AT&T support. You can buy one from them, but they seem a bit overpriced. The support person said we can buy anything we want but they only support (as in, know what the heck they are talking about) a couple of models.

Don't buy it from AT&T as they are overpriced. Instead, give their support a call and ask which models are compatible and which ones will they support? Reason I recommend doing it that way is I remember from past experience that AT&T will refuse support for any device that's not on their list.

I no longer use them as my ISP here in the DFW area. I'm on Verizon FIOS but Verizon supplies all the hardware.

chscag,

AT&T only supports a couple of wireless gateways. The 2Wire DSL Gateway Model 2701HG-B is the only wireless gateway they support according to their rep. Everything else is just a modem then I'd still have to get a wireless router. I think that would be more expensive. Here are the DSL modems they support: Motorola 2210, Siemens 4100, and Westel F90.

I'm thinking there has to be a better gateway than the 2wire.

I figured it would be something like that. And yes, you're correct in that purchasing a modem plus router is going to be more expensive. The AT&T gateway is probably going to be your best bet.

Amazon has them for $96.99 + free shipping. Take a look. LINK

There are other units which are better, however, if you buy one and something goes wrong with the connection, AT&T will refuse to do repairs.
