Hello All,

I am a photographer and I use Lightroom 3 with Photoshop as well. My catalogs are on my PC and I use Smugmug with Lightroom 3 which automatically picks up any changes I make to my catalogs and then imports them at my request.

Unfortunately they are on my hard drive not my external hard drive which I just use as a back up for the images.

JUst wondering what suggestions you may have before I begin what I feel is going to be a tedious process to change over?

Thanks in advance!

No takers on this one? I was hoping someone had done this before and had some experience.

Hi Lucy, I've not attempted to switch over (from Win to OS X) so I can't speak with authority, but I'm also thinking that the catalog files are absolutely the same and not OS specific. Here's what I would try:

Copy your catalog and preview files over to your external HD, then when you install LR on your Mac, just replace those same ones which are created by default with the ones you copied over to the external. LR should pick those things up with no issues at all, but make sure to go into preferences (of LR) and do a quick repair, just to make sure all is well.

Does that make sense to you? Let me know if you have other questions. Btw, I'm also a SmugMug user, so if you're having issues, I might be able to help.

Doug

PS... The two files I'm talking about are in the screen shot.
