A mate gave me his G4 iBook to look at and I said I would install OSX 10.5 on it.

He lost the password years ago so I put the OSX 10.5 DVD in the drive and held down the C key.

After a long while, the 10.5 desktop came up but then the DVD drive stopped making noises and it froze with the coloured disk spinning in one corner of the screen.

So I restarted and all I get is a grey screen and I can't eject the 10.5 DVD.

I have an external drive and a new iMac - could I use those to get the iBook running again?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nigel.

You could try Target Disk Mode if the iBook has a working Firewire port. See this LINK.
