Hi all,

I have a 21.5" iMac; purchased last fall. I'm not sure if I have admin privileges, though. So I have two questions:
1) How can I check to make sure I have full admin privileges?
2) If I do not, can I reset a password somewhere (don't remember the old one) to obtain full privileges? I still have the startup disk that came with the computer. I read somewhere that I can boot the computer with the startup disk to reset the admin password. But if I do this, do I lose any software/data that I already have on the iMac?

Thanks!

The easiest way to find out if you have admin privileges is to go to, System Settings>Accounts, click on your account name and see if the check box labeled "Allow this user to adminster this computer" has a tick in it or not.
