Computers menu contents disappear

When I turn my computer off or even quit iTunes there no longer anything under the Computers menu on the apple TV. Why is that does anyone know?

Because the ATV Streams from the computer you have. If its not on that means there is no Network to Stream over and then no Airplay and if iTunes isnt on, that means your ATV hasnt got a Library to stream from ...

Is that what you looking for ??

I guess it answers my question. :) Which leads me to think I kind of didn't ask the right question or the full question. ;/ Is there any way I can play content from my computer on the Apple TV when it's off, or not? (Sorry about not being clearer the first time btw)

How would it be able to stream content sitting on the hard drive in your Mac if the Mac is turned off?

no . . .

if its not on that means there is no network to stream over and then no airplay and if itunes isnt on, that means your atv hasnt got a library to stream from ...

Actually, just because his computer isn't on doesn't mean there is no Network to stream from (unless the computer IS the network), it just means the content contained on or controlled by that computer can't be accesses. Because ATV2 uses home sharing I can have multiple computer with different content on and when one goes off the network the others content is still available.
