Blue Mic USB input not working - OSX 10.5.8

Is anyone else having issues with Blue Mics? We've tried everything to make the computer recognize the our Blue Snowball USB mic, but it still does not see it.

This is supposed to be plug and play, and I am very disappointed. There does not seem to be many support pages or articles about this, and I don't think I'm the only one to have this problem.

Any tips for getting a MBP to recognize a USB mic???

Don't use external mics myself, but what application are you using with the mic?

For ex.

In Garageband you would head for Preferences - Audio and select the mic as the input source from there.
