System Setup:
G4 iMac with OS X 10.4, wireless, DHCP, Assigned IP - 10.0.1.3
HP Notebook with WinXP, wireless, DHCP, Assigned IP - 10.0.1.2
AirportExtreme Network, base station IP - 10.0.1.1

Able to ping iMac from HP and connect to shares no problem.
NOT able to ping HP from iMac.
HP has personal firewall disabled.

Any thoughts?

Closer than you think.
Your Mac's Specs
Performa 6116 2GBSCSI 8MB OS 7.5.3
Can we assume that your internet on the PC is working?

The windows firewall in windows xp sp2 is on most likely.

Not the firewall on the nic,...the firewall on the wifi.

Either way why do you need to ping it? Or are you just trying to share?

Can you ping the Mac from the PC?

By personal firewall, do you mean a 3rd party firewall such as Zone alarm personal firewall or do you mean the built-in windows firewall?

Windows built-in personal firewall is off for wireless network connection.
TCP filtering is universaly disabled for all connections.

I am debugging an ASP.NET Web Site for issues specific to Safari browser client on OS X.

Windows Personal Firewall associated to wireless connection is disabled.
All TCP Filtering on windows is disabled (for all connections).

And YES, I am able to ping the other way and connect to any shares on Mac from PC.

Is it possible for you to connect via a wired connection vs wireless to rule out the airport?

Perhaps a x-over cable w/ static IP's.

Wired connection is not an option since I only have 1 Ethernet port on the base station and no network hub is immediately available.

What would you suspect to be the problem with AirPort, since it allows for the PC to Mac communication?

All AirPort security settings are completely removed.

What other Windows-side software would you suspect to be acting as a firewall?

I have removed and/or disabled all spy-ware detection and corporate IT management-related components, which I could think of.

I still can not solve it, but I am fairly convinced that it is caused by Zone Alarm on WinXP. I have tried to disable it, but was not able to do it cleanly, since it requires additional admin password, used in installation. Opening a ticket with Corporate IT Help Desk.

Thank you all for the help.

You are absolutely right,....

I didn't catch you saying zone alarm was installed. aptmunich mentioned it but you did not comment about it.

ZA is the culprit.
