I'm kind of wanting to try this out (the OS). The only thing is, will Google license it like Microsoft does for Windows? I assume so since Samsung and either Acer or Asus will follow suit with offerings of their upcoming Chrome OS netbooks.

I am just not sure there is much appeal in an OS that is basically limited to the services a browser can offer

I'm registered for the Beta, though who knows if I'll get one. We're thinking of how this might work in a customized form for our OTR drivers, sales staff and SysAdmins. The idea is along the lines of minimal installations containing little to no proprietary client data that can be deployed to mobile and remote individuals. For my part, I'm wanting to see how it plays with the remote management of data centers, how it plays with our network based storage and whether it can run things like SAP GUI, IBM System Director and some Oracle interfaces and tools.

If you have a copy of Parallels there is an option to install Chrome OS, it downloads and installs it, you don't have to do anything really. I don't know how current the version is, but it gives you an insight.
