Hi,

I'm looking for a recommendation on a home colour laser for my Mac. I like the look (and price point) of the Dell 1320CN but that doesn't seem to be fully OSX compatible.

I would also look at Black and White recommendations too.

Thanks

After using Inkjet printers for years I decided to try a small colour laser (Samsung CLX-3185).
I can tell you that the quality of the output was not very good against my Inkjet (Canon MX850).

My personal opinion is that you need to buy a fairly good quality colour laser to compete with an Inkjet when it comes to colour output.

Of course your decision will be mostly based on your printing requirements i.e. what you are using it for.

If you buy that Dell (or any Dell color laser) be prepared to pay a premium price for the toner cartridges and replacement drum. Each color toner cartridge (there are four) cost approximately $90 each here in the US. The replacement drum is even more. I guess it depends on your personal usage but we found the consumables to be excessively expensive and wound up going back to a HP model.

Look at a HP or Brother. If you want to do photos stay with the inkjet. Lasers are great for turning out text docs with color or graphic comps etc. I make hang tags and business related stuff with mine. I have 3 . They all came from the thrift store none over $12.00...havent bought any toner or drums yet. On the Magicolor 2430 have 84% of the 45000 drum life left.
