Welcome.

Is that error popping up during transfer of files to your external disk or during the deletion of files on your external disk or during the deletion of files on your internal disk ?
Not clear to me .

Also would be good to tell us some more about your Mac ... model and OS for instance.

Cheers ... McBie

Hi

sorry for the lack of information,

Apple iMac MC508N/A 3,06 GHz 21,5"
4096 MB (2x 2048 MB)

Mac OS X 10.6.5

What happened was transferring four big ish files i usually do one file at a time,And they all stooped so i just closed the boxes down and when to delete the files and re do them and got this error code 35 if that makes any sense.

So the error happen during transfer and when trying to delete files,

Thanks for the fast reply

As Louishen asked above .... what is the file system of the external drive ..
Is it FAT32, NTFS, HFS+ or something else.

If it is FAT32, are any of the files your are transferring larger than 4 GB?

ItsWindows NT Filesystem (Tuxera NTFS)

OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard can read from NTFS file systems but not write to them without an extra piece of software .... I believe Paragon has an NTFS driver for Mac OS X.

I am not an expert in NTFS but this might well be your problem.

If the drive is intended to be used by the Mac, just reformat it for Mac and save yourself a lot of headaches.
