When I burn a CD from music in my iTunes folder, if it is a CDR it works in both my CD players, but if I use a CD-RW it won't work in my CD players or other people's. Why? I have also tried burning a disk using 'Burn' but with the same results. Why can't I use a CD-RW?

A great many stand alone players just do not like CD-RW discs.

You could experiment with different brands of discs and perhaps find a brand that works in one, but maybe not in another.

Gave up using CD-RW for anything other than data years ago myself.

Nor will they work with most auto CD players either. Like you, I gave up on using them except for scratch disks. I've done the same with the DVD+RW media that I have laying around.

Thanks both of you. I'll just have to stick to CDs then. It's just that I always found it useful to use CD-RW disks, obviously so I could erase them and re-record.

I've turned all my CD-RWs upside-down and used as coffee coasters haha
