I just watched the new space mission launch! Currently they're traveling 14,500 MPH, and will approach 17,500 MPH! This is the first launch in 2 years, check it out! The Discovery just jettisoned the huge fuel tank

Still don't understand why they didn't just cave in and borrow the Soviet's rockets... The shuttle program is on the way out anyway, so why go through all this?

Yeah we all watched it at work live from the BBC news feed, once that finished switched to Nasa. In total awe of the shuttle, 5 mins after take off the earth was just a sphere in the background...... amazing.
