Is there a list somewhere?

Hi Guys and Guyesses,
I have just made the switch to a Mac system and I would like, if possible, to find software similar to the stuff that I'm used to on a Windows PC.
For example, I used a prog called Irfanview to resize, crop, organise my images and I would like to find something similar (Freeware) for this G4 Mac Mini. Picasa looked like it would fit the bill but it seems to need an Intel chip.

So, is there a list somewhere that shows Mac Freeware that folk have given the Thumbs up which also shows what the software actually does?

MacUpdate.com is a great place to start.

You could also search the forum for specific pieces of software, there has been lots of great discussion on software for people switching and you'll find a lot of good information.

Preview will do the job on resizing images, if you have it.

Your Mac Mini should have come from the factory with the iLife suite, which includes iPhoto. I'm going to guess that you bought it second-hand and it didn't come with the original OS discs. In the absence of iPhoto, I would recommend CocoViewX.

This Mac Mini was bought on eBay. It came with a fresh install of OS X 10.5.8. There is an iPhoto icon in the dock but when I opened it up and watched the tutorial video, it seemed to be an application for storing and retrieving your images rather than a place where you could crop, resize, get rid of red-eye etc.
I shall nw go and see what Preview and CocoViewX are all about.

Those are all things iPhoto does:

Hi Schweb ..... I have just done a Google search for "iPhoto" and got over 3 million hits. I then searched within results for "Resize Photos". The first few seem to be folk asking how to resize photos in iPhoto. The general answer seems to be that before yu put your photos into iPhoto, you drag them to the desktop and work on them there.
This is a reply I found on MacRumors.

Once exported/saved/dragged out of iPhoto:

1) Click open / Open up in Preview
2) Go to Tools
3) Find Adjust Size...
..........................................................................................................................
Maybe this has to do with different versions of iPhoto
