I have a home-built computer running XP SP2 and am having difficulty getting my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.8) to connect to the windows shared printer (hp 970Cxi). It connects fine when the Windows XP firewall is turned off, but not when turned on. The printer is 'shared' and the Windows firewall allows file and print sharing.
The Mac connected fine to the XP computer+printer before I reformatted the hard disk last week and reinstalled the XP operating system on the desktop. I'm only trying to get back to where I was last week.
