Can't get iMac 21.5 OS X ver 10.6.4 to recognize HP all in one model F4480 as a device.
It prints fine but won't scan. Attempts at Image Capture and HP Scan both fail to detect a device.
Followed HP troubleshooting instructions and re-installed Printer with no luck.
Could not find answer in HP support area.
What do you suggest?

Are you using the drivers that come with OS X or are you installing drivers from HPs site? Is your scanner recognized in System Preferences > Print & Fax?

First was using drivers from Mac, then tried new d/l from HP,
The device does show in Print/Fax of Preferences.

Are you sure you installed both the printer and scanner drivers? I know that I have to install both to use each of them for my Canon printer. In other words, the "printer" driver may not include support for the scanner.
