Hello there, I'm thinking about investing in a 27" iMac this winter, if I can snag a refurbed one, all the better. But anyway, I have some reservations and I'm just looking for answers and some help.
Here's my predicament: I'm a college networking student and we use stuff like Microsoft Visio and VMWare, how does this pan over onto a mac? I know I could just boot camp. I already have a copy of w7. Are iMac's good to learn networking and whatnot?
Also, I'm about to be married and my soon-to-be wife has very much wanted a mac for a while so I have to consider this.
My last and perhaps most important question is, how well do they game? I'm looking to get the upper end 27" iMac with at least an i5 unless I can snag a refurbed i7 with the upper end vid card. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do like to spend my free time playing them. I really only play blizzard games, steam games, and I also play Call of duty (not MW2, thats garbage) but I'm looking to have a solid machine to run the ones that are coming out. Will the 27" be able to do this and do it well?
I have done a bit of research and I know that I will have an easier time playing games through boot camp just due to compatibility. I also know I could just build a pc for the same price but completely destroy mac's as far as power goes, but I'm looking for something different. It's quite a plus that iMac's have that beautiful 2550x1440 display. It's something I drool over.
