Apologies if this have already been asked. I want to use some Windows programs on my Mac for which there are not Mac equivalents. I have been advised by Apple to install Parallels but have tried it and cant seem to start windows. Would I need to own a copy of windows to make Parallels work?

I suspect the answer is yes but am hopeful :)

Thanks in advance

Yes, you need to own a copy of windows.

For answers to the basic questions, I would suggest you have a read through the following sticky...

There are also very few windows apps for which there is not something that will get the job done in OS X.
If you're having problems finding them, you might consider asking if anyone knows an app that will accomplish what you're looking for.
