Hi, I just recently decided to make the switch to Mac, and purchase my new MacBookPro yesterday. As a new Mac user, I am not to familiar with all the shortcuts and how this computer actually functions, but with a litle practice I should do fine.

The problem I am having is the fact that for some odd reason (I don't know what I press) my F keys (F1 F2 F3 F4....) are locked. For example if I press the F4 key, my dashboard opens up without me pressing the command key.

If there a way to unlock the Command key? Thank you.

Welcome to Mac-Forums!

Go to System Preferences > Keyboard > In the Keyboard tab put a check mark in the "Use all F1, F2, etc keys as standard function keys"

Then they will work as you are wanting them… and to use the functions that are printed on the keys (Dashboard, etc) you'll just need to hold the Fn key while pressing the desired "F" key.
