He basically says:
"'If a user wants to walk from the kitchen to the dining room in her house, she simply walks through,' Skillman said. 'It does not work like that in mobile--you have to go through the front door to get to the kitchen. iPhone has a home button which works like a go-back-to-front-door button. This is not a model that human beings are used to. People are spatial.'"
There is more of the same in the rest of the article. He's basically saying the iOS UI is bad.

Hahahaha.

Is this guy for real? He's probably never used iOS, the back button is built in on the touch screen. I actually prefer this over any other phone I've used...

I forgot, however, that he knows all because his amazing Palm Pre phones were such a big hit.

Too many...
I'm getting tired of all these people claiming to know what the problems are related to the iphone, and stating that they have a better solution. If it was as bad as they thought it was, why are they trying to build something to fight against it...only to lose? I'm almost positive there is no other smart phone that sells as many units as a single version of the iphone. As far as I'm concerned, they're just talking and making a fuss to gain some publicity. It's not like the Pre was that successful anyways.

I have a phone idea that tops EVERYTHING out there! It's a phone that you can telepathically tell it what to do, while relaying back to your mind. No user interface is required. It also finds the hottest chicks in your block! Top that Nokia!

Going through a house and going through a phone UI are two completely different things!!!

There's a reason you're directed BACK to the front door in iOS.

Glad they are trying something new, whatever that may be (they don't really say). There was a time that folks said Apple was crazy for having a single button on their phone. Well, that's not entirely true... it has one physical button and many virtual buttons, toggles, sliders and the like.

Seriously though... how is this an Apple Rumor or Report? It's an article about some guy who has an opinion about iPhone design for 1 out of 7 paragraphs. I always thought an Apple Rumor or Report was more or less a post regarding something new Apple is doing, or at least some news about something Apple was doing. I guess as long as an article has Apple in it in some form, it's an Apple Rumor or Report then? How is some guy "basically saying the iOS UI is bad" an Apple R&R? Or Android users upgrading their phones OS? Or someone stating they think the MS Kinect may "blow away" the iPad for that matter? None of these articles reveal anything new about Apple or their products. This is the kind of vacuous forum-filler crap that makes me dislike fanboys of any type, and the main reason I killed my RSS of this sub-forum.

Apple reports and rumours are pretty much Apple news. And Apple news is not just information on new Apple products. Written opinion is just as important. You see it all over the 6 o'clock news on TV and heck they have an entire section in the news paper dedicated to opinionated articles. That's called the feature article section (usually found in the middle of the newspaper).

So I'm sure you like the more hard news stories about Apple. The front page news stories. But some people like the opinionated stuff (ala feature articles) too. So I post articles to please everyone. A solution to your problem would be 2 sub forums in the news section here. One would be for the front page news articles you like and the other would be for all the opinionated stuff. Then you could have your RSS feed of the hard front page sub forum.

In all fairness, I wouldn't expect him to praise it. In fact, I wouldn't expect any competitor to praise it, ever. Their jobs are to hype the living begeezus out of their own products and downplay the competitor. Hope he likes his dog food.
