I have been testing Time Machine on my new 21.5" iMac. I scroll through all the folders to a document but, when I try to open it it says locked by user, can only be opened as a read only. Not a problem as I could save it to the corresponding folder on the iMac.
In the event of a hard drive crash I would need to be able to save all the data to the replacement at one go. Once I had done this and opened a document from the new HD I would hope it wouldn't be locked in this way. This may seem a silly question but, having suffered a crash of Time Machine followed by iMac after 3 months, I am a bit paranoid about this issue. Am I right?
