Entourage whirly processing circle never stops twirling

I am a totally new mac user--switching from a Dell pc which I have LOVED. My daughter convinced me to buy this MacBook Pro and I am TOTALLY frustrated with it. One this I can't figure out is my email program. The inbox and Sent folders are constantly twirling with the "I'm doing something" icon next to the boxes. Why is it doing that? Can someone help me please? Thanks.

Why are you using entourage? Use Mac Mail instead.
