why does my fan go on when i delete trash

is this common?

every time i delete my trash bin (if there is a significant amount of data in it) my computer fan goes on during the entire process.

is this normal or bad for my machine?

Mine does as well but most of the time its because of the large file size. Open trash next
time and see exactly what you are tossing and size.
