Looks like they intend to launch it for desktops late this year and notebooks sometime in 2011. That means if Apple adopts it for the iMac line, it won't be until sometime next year at the earliest. MacBook and MBP line even later than that. Also, I wonder if that spells doom for firewire?

I would be very surprised to see Apple jump on USB3.0 quickly. I have a hunch that Firewire and USB 2.0 will be standard until Light Peak is ready. Don't underestimate Steve's desire to eliminate ports. I'd be willing to bet that as soon as Light Peak surfaces, new Macs will have one, maybe two ports... period.

I also believe Light Peak is the future.

That would be great. I, however, am planning on purchasing a new MacBook Pro this Christmas and I wouldn't want the following version to have such a nice feature like USB 3.0 that I'll be lacking. :(

I have to agree with lightpeak and not USB being the future. In saying that I think Apple will use USB3 when it's shipped. USB is backwards compatible right? And yeah unless you transfer a very large amount of data constantly between devices I don;t see USB 3 being the new cheese. I think it's just a place holder for lightpeak.
