(let me know if I'm posting something I shouldn't due to security issues)

There was recently a blackout in my area and for some reason, ever since then, I cannot connect wirelessly to my router.

The Router is verizon FIOS and I would give more information about it, but I am certain that it is not the source of the problem since I can access the internet using an ethernet cable and my brother (same macbook/updates) can connect using Airport.

I have the correct network selected (3U032, as seen on the bottom half of those Airport specs) and the correct password (100% confirmed).

Most of the time, Airport connects to the network but no actual internet service is found. Sometimes and if I force it to, I will receive a "self-registered" IP address and no connection. I've went through all the settings and matched them up to my brother's, to no avial. I've even manually entered the IP address that I copied off of his settings for the same network.

What is going on? And how do I fix it?

Much thanks!

Closer than you think.

Try deleting the Airport interface and re-adding it back. This sometimes does the trick.

Use the minus sign in the network preference to remove Airport then the plus sign to add a new Airport interface.

This helps to sort out poor behavior of wireless (and wired) interfaces. Simple to do and harmless.

Thanks for the reply!

I tried that and unfortunately, the same self addressing IP came back.

I've been using an Ethernet cable for the past week and while its OK by me, it kinda defeats the purpose of a laptop!

If anyone has any other ideas, please help!
