• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

hey,
i recently ripped the terminal from dvd and have it on my harddrive as a mp4 file. the file size of the movie is 1.01GB.

Now when i create a new project and so forth on iDVD and then import the movie onto it the i get a pop up screen saying there is not enough space on the dvd to burn it. *mainly i dont understand why like as i said before the actual movie os only just over 1 gig and i dont understand why it wont fit a blank dvd is 4.7Gb

Also in regards to this what types of files can i burn a movie dvd with toast.

Check in preferences to make sure it is set to best performance instead of quality. 1.01 gb is before iDVD goes in and encodes it to the VideoTS folders which expands the file size greatly

I use the the disc image (i think its called at work now so cant check...I use a winblows at work) but I'm pretty sure thats the name of it. I make my rips into a .img file and then use the disc image to burn them onto DVD. I believe its found in the utilities folder.
