Okay I have a lot of mp4 files on iMac. The problem I have tho is that the videos are 1280x720 so on my wide screen monitor running at 1920x1200 so when I run the videos full screen there is a small black bar at the top and bottom. I want to remove it, but I don't know how? Who can recommend a tool for me?

Hi,

I am not sure why you'd want to do this - if you "remove" those bars, you'll end up loosing some on the right and left edge. This happens because your video is 1280x720 (16:9 - which is the same for 1920x1080 - ie: 1080i/p) and your screen is 1920x1200 (16:10)

There is an option in QuicktimeX called panoramic mode that should (from what I've read) remove that (it's under the views option) - on my system it's grayed out tho and I don't know why - you should check to see if the option is available to use on your player as that should expand the video to remove the black bars.

What on earth do people have against black bars? Watch the **** movie and the black bars will disappear!

Widescreen vs. Fullscreen (http://hubpages.com/hub/widescreen-vs-fullscreen)

Especially, watch the video on that page. Then you'll "get it."

Even a 40$ movie from Paramount pictures has black bars!
