Ok on Windows 7, when I'm in any internet browswer and I want to quickly highlight the typing area(i.e. www.) then I hit alt+d

I'm just so used to it and I love using that shortcut. I've tried a few different combinations on the mac and I can't figure out how to do it. Anyone?

Congrats to you for coming up with what I think may well be the ultimate thread title, but really you would do better if your thread title had some relation to what you are actually talking about.

Faulty logic, that.

Your post was short. It was previewed, it was a quick question with a simple answer. He entered the thread and answered the question. The topic title had nothing whatsoever to do with it.

The really bad ones have a long-winded post that never gets to the crux of the matter in the preview. With an unrelated, generic, totally useless title to go with it, many people just skip over it.

I didn't know about command +L , but I've found another way. Just click the little icon in the navigation text box and the magnifying glass in the search text box. In Safari. In case of FireFox just click the beginning of the text string in either text box.

no command+A highlights all text that you're currently in. command+L is what instantly highlights the browser for me so no matter what I'm doing(such as typing this message) I can hit command+L and it instantly highlights the browser search box for me. Try it and you'll see what I mean. I just have it burned in my skull and its just so convienent.

Amazing the power of a Google search. That's how I came up with the Command + L.

I think I searched for the terms "address bar keyboard shortcut select mac" and had a ton of relevant results in the first few hits.

As much as I like descriptive titles, this one caught my attention because it seemed like a challenge. :D
