I'm trying to set up a modem and the instructions say that if the "Auto Configure Your Modem" doesn't appear, that I need to make sure my Ethernet port is configured for Dynamic IP.

How do I do that? Thanks!

Dynamic IP (better known as DHCP) is the default for the Ethernet adapter. If you've never specifically configured a manual IP address for your Mac, then you needn't do anything special.

If you want to check the settings, open System Preferences => Network => Click Ethernet in the left window pane => check to make sure that the "Configure IPv4" field is set to 'Using DHCP'.

Thank you. It'll be a few days before I can try that. I'll let you know what happens next week.
