Imac 3.06 4 GB
Hi everyone,

I have a Imac 3.06 4GB with 1 TB hard drive. I want to share my family's music / photos, and video with 2 windows 7 machines and one xp laptop.

But the Imac would use the media the most. I'm looking for the fastest storage system that I can get. I do have a 650 gb ext hooked up to the air port extreme. But need to replace it with a larger drive, and would like to know is there a faster way to do that.

Basically, I want iPhoto, and iTunes, to load as fast as they can, but with all of the family media.

I will be slowly replacing the other pcs with Macs.

Thanks,
Dan

What is your budget? The fastest - ready to go NAS for personal use that I've found is from Synology but it isn't cheap.
Synology NAS - Products :: DiskStation DS1010+
You'd need to access it through Gigabit Ethernet to get the throughput.
You could build your own too - my friend put together a 6 disk freenas box.

I was looking at the Western Digital NAS.
I have a Airport Extreme, and I believe it's Gigabit.
I use to build pcs, so I'm interested in making a NAS Box.
I need it to be 2 TB...and I'm really liking the Raid part.
so I guess I need two 2 TB drives. But what should I look for on it other then 7200 rpm? What do I need for the box?

Money is a concern. Thanks for the Help!
