I use Toast to burn copies of a stage show video as DVD's with no problems. I recently downloaded an mpeg film of 700Mb and whilst I can view it on Quicktime, I would prefer to convert it to DVD and play it on the larger TV screen. I have downloaded various freeware programmes but as yet I cannot find a suitable conversion application......ie mpeg to dvd. I know that once I have converted it, it will be a large file and will have to use DVD2oneX to compact it to 4.2Gb for burning.

Any suggestions as to which application to use to convert??
Many thanks

Hi Geoff,

On my iMac G5 I can turn a .mp4 file into a .mov with Quicktime [needs to be the pro]
I can then burn as a Video CD with Toast. Up to 80 mins at a time like an ordinary audio CD. Takes ages but works OK.
The ordinary CD plays on my DVD player but I don't have many options when playing.None at all actually but it works.
If your movie is longer than 80 mins you will need to split the file. If you go to Version Tracker or Macupdate, I think you can get something that will do this.
If you don't change to .mov[it's in Save As] I found that there's no sound.

Andrew

Handbrake is a good one to get for turning DVD's into movies. also takes ages but works. It's free.
