Is the iSight worth it? Ive read a few reviews and it says its only really useable in Ichat. You cant still photo's, videos or anything. I dont know if I want to spend the money on it. So does anyone have anything good/bad to say about the isight?

I love my iSight. I use it to talk to my family at home with theirs.

There is no direct still feature in iChat but you can use iMovie to record videos with it as well as QuickTime.

The quality is spectacular. I have a T1 connection at school and cable at home and the video/audio between me and my family is crystal clear even at fullscreen

So do you use your Isight with people on Windows based machines just using Aim?

Are there any downsides to the isight?

I had an iSight that I borrowed for a week. Everyone I chatted with said the video quality resembled that of a professional PictureTel. Unfortunately no one else that I know has an iSight, and it seemed to only work with iChat, so I never ended up buying one.

Now that I have gotten basically my whole family to purchase iMac, I have to work on them to get iSights also.

Thanks,
Ray

I have used it with some people on AIM but it truly shines in iChat with iSight -> iSight

If you have need for a webcam absolutely. I definitely got my money's worth out of it being away from home
