When signing into MM my entire contact list appears as offline and appears as blocked, even though they arent blocked.

I went onto my mom's pc and my account on there is fine, i have tried installking and uninstalling MM for my Macbook but still no luck.

At first glance it would appear that you have downloaded malware on your machine. You can tell it's malware because it starts with MICROSOFT in its name. ;D

unless you need Video support, use Adium like was just suggested. MS Messenger for OSX is full of bugs.

Virus? There are NO Virus's (Self Installing, Self Replicating) in the wild for OSX. There is a DNS changer trojan that comes with Porn Videos and pirated software.

If you need Video/Audio support for MSN you can try aMSN.

I had already posted this problem under "OSX Applications and software", so if any mod could be so kind to merge?

Anyway, that is a +1 for users with this problem. As I already concluded in my own topic: it only occurs in MSN:Mac, both version 7.0.2 and 8Beta. The issue is definately platform-related, because eBuddy, Adium and MSN on Windows do work as intended.

Too bad Adium cannot replace MSN. (Buddy names not displayed correctly, blocked users still seeing you, etc.). For now, I'll just stick to running eBuddy in a separate Safari window, I guess.

Solution !!!

Hi to all... first!!!

I'm new on the forum, and I've created a username just to answer.
I had the same problems with my messenger yesterday night (June 17 2010)...

When I came to log on MSN at 6:00 after work... All contacts were blocked, asking me to add them... and in the end, it was changing nothing at all...

Tried manually... and with iClean (freeware) to uninstall MSN... and re-installed it after... Nothing worked...

So I've been waiting for tonight to try something else... and all I found interesting about this problem on the web was this tread!!!!!
...And I wanted to help you with the solution I've just found!!!

I got back to the source:

----------------------------------------------------

UNINSTALL ALL Microsoft Office Suites on the computer,

BY USING : "Remove Office" - Located in Applications / Microsoft Office xxxx / Additional Tools / Remove Office

You let the standard selections... follow the steps...
It takes all the associated files of all the versions installed to the trash...
You can also put the RECOVERY folder and the LOG created by the uninstaller on the desktop to the trash after all!!!!

Clean the trash...

and NOW RE-INSTALL your recent copy of Microsoft Office Suite...

It will install automatically an old version of MSN...
And at this point, it WORKED REAL FINE for me...

But still... I had Icons problems and I was really bored of that 6.0.3 Version... So I decieded to go directly on Microsoft's site / Mac / Downloads to UPGRADE to the last version of MSN I was using...

Downloaded it... Installed it... Asked me to put all older versions to the trash with keeping my settings and contacts...

EUREKA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

----------------------------------------------------

HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU !!!!
Sorry for those who didn't keeped their Office installation DVD's... (find one!)
And for those who are running this problem without having any Office Suite installed.... (Maybe someting with the iClean Trick, and re-installing an older version could help... Or getting a Microsoft Office Package...)

Merci et bonne chance !!!

I had the same problem today! Found the answer in another thread. I fixed the problem by clearing my account history. To do this, log out and click the "Sign in with a different passport" text. There should be a "Clear Account History" button. After this is done, just re-type your information in and voila!
