• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and have been having trouble figuring out how to back up my DVD Collection. Before I purchased my MBP I had Windows XP and used Clone DVD to burn and Any DVD to "decode" (which I never had any problems with). I've tried a trial copy of WonderShare DVD and one other program (can't remember the name) and both programs said that my DVD-R's did not have enough room to burn the DVD. They were blank 4.7GB DVD-R's, which I have always used without issues. Can someone please help me?

Free DVD burning software would be a major plus, but even if I have to purchase something that I know will work, I am fine with that. Just to clarify, I need something that can decode the copyright on pretty much all DVDs. I also need something that won't store the movie permanently on my computer, rather just transfer it to a blank DVD-R.

Thanks!
