is there any way to make safari only run with one window open at any point? i have tabbed browsing enabled, but it still opens up a new window when i click on some links. i would like it to always open up a link in a new tab that would normally open in a new window.

well, seeing as how it's a fairly simple thing, and a feature that many would want, i was wondering if there was a way to make safari do it automatically.

yeah... but it works, maybe in future versions of safari they will have this option. Hopefully a mac engineer is looking through our forums and pass on the ideas of all the members, lol.

I second a vote for Firefox. esonally, I think it's better than Safari. So many extra useful features avaialbe, ESPECIALLY if you are a web developer.

Not really...if you have a 3-(or more)button mouse (like any simple mouse with scrollwheel), a middle-click on the link will open it in a new tab...
That's the way I use it, and it works just fine...
Firefox on the Mac is too slow, compared to it's Windows-counterpart. It's rendering is just annoying, compared to Safari or Opera.

You can still attach a mouse to it...
With one button, there's unfortunately only the way trpnmonkey described...

Apple should finally do the switch...to at least 2 buttons and a scrollwheel (for non-'Books)
