people who can't click an icon on the screen bother me. I wonder in 20 years if people will stay home and just push buttons for everything and never even leave?

Probably so, Something about this reminds me of the 90's just doesn't seem like a revolutionary product.

I'm gonna go out on a limb (how unusual for me !) and go against the grain a bit. I kind of feel that it makes sense in a way. Maybe not totally, but certainly in a way which is synonymous with the way that us OS X users love using keyboard short cuts for almost everything. Fine, I don't speak for everyone but.. since having switched to OS X, I use keyboard shortcuts for SO many things within the OS, and I think it would make a lot of sense to integrate a dedicated keyboard for mapped shortcuts..

I think this may be sort of a test, and that they may develop a much larger scale keyboard for when Chrome OS is in full production. I personally feel that keyboard shortcuts enhance my level of productivity when I'm sitting doing work, whether that be online, or in an system application.

I can also guarantee that if Apple had put this product on the market, with different functions, everybody would be calling it the next step in evolutionary computing on the Mac. I don't really see anything so bad about it, to be honest. There are plenty of programs/apps which utilize proprietary keyboards for a more efficient workflow. This one just happens to be a tad redundant and near sighted... but it's a good start, I think, should they continue on with a user customizable keyboard for Chrome OS etc..

For a power Gmail user this might just work as the above said. But for most average users it's just not worth it. And secondly most power Gmail users send their Gmail to something like Mail or Thunderbird. And email client app. And that makes the whole keyboard pointless.

And you can't type an email with this keyboard alone. Only read/move/delete emails. You need a traditional keyboard to type out new emails still. If this was attached to a little LCD screen so you could read your emails on the go, it'd work just fine. But as it is not so good.

The keyboard is made for power Gmail users who use Gmail itself. And not a client like most power email users do. So the keyboard works, but the niché for it is so tiny I doubt it'll get many sales.

... all those functions are already keyboard shortcuts...really, wouldn't this just waste time to move your hand over to another keyboard?

Actually I see this as a kind of good product, I can see it being used for those who are not great at computer skills.

Pad and Pen

I use a pad and pen instead of fingering our mouse clicking and I just Love it. So much more versatile in the movements of the hand and wrist. Very good for drawing as well. Plus, no more RSI. I hope the pad and pen never become obsolete.
