Using a Palm Vx with serial connector on Mac

Hey guys quick question. I have an old Palm Pilot Vx that I never use because I have a PowerBook and the cradle for this is serial. There is hotsync software available for Mac for this model however. I'm just curious, if I purchase one of those $15 1 foot Serial to USB cables, would I be able to use this with the mac? Or would it not even recognize it? I just want to be able to hotsync this with my ical and possibly OS X mail for work. Thanks!

As far as I can tell based on what you said it should work. For $15 it would be worth the try as the cable can be returned.
