Typing email addresses into Mail

Hi

I've hit an interesting thing in Mail, not sure its always done it, but i can't just type an e-mail address into the address bar, it claims it doesn't really exist, and the only way to send it to have it stored in AddressBook, which is frustrating cos i dont want everyones adress stored in there!!

Any ideas anyone?

This has never happened to me---ever. I do not store things in my address book. Being a bit of a windows defect, I am trained not to store contacts in case a virus strikes and uses the address book as a tool to spread said virus.
I'd be interested to know what's up there.
