Hello, I'm not very tech savvy, but I want to show a combination video and slideshow from my MacBook onto a slide projector and control it with my MacBook remote.

Right now the project is in my Imovie '08. It starts with a 4 minute video then has about 40 slides/pictures. The problem is I can't advance to the next slide with my remote. I guess the project doesn't have chapters perhaps, and I don't know how to put chapters in it??

I also have the project saved in my Itunes, as an Mpeg-4 video file, but have the same problem when I play it from there- I can't advance to the next slide with the remote. It just goes all the way to end of the project when I hit forward.

I can play the project as a movie with the application Front Row, but when I hit the forward button it seems to skip forward at random increments and I don't know how to control it to just skip forward to the next slide.

I gotta figure with Imovie '08, Itunes, Front Row, and an old version of Powerpoint (Powerpoint X), there's gotta be some way to do this?

Any help is appreciated :)

I don't think I fully understand what's going on, but could you put the video you need into the powerpoint (on a slide) and then go from there? So put the rest of the pictures onto separate slides; it would take a while but it's the only way I can think of. Good Luck!

Blackmac11 pretty much I think gave you a good solution here.

iMovie, mp4's, etc. are not really designed to stop and start playback like you would want with a Powerpoint (or Keynote (iWork) or Presentation (Open Office)) type slide show.

As blackmac11 suggested - get your various video clips together and your stills, as well as any text you want and build your slideshow presentation in Powerpoint (or Keynote (if you have iWork) or Presentation (if you have Open Office)) then when you use one of those tools to play your presentation back, you'll have the control you want with your remote.

Or you could shorten the time each picture is displayed in the video and instead of trying to advance to the next you would need to pause then play to advance.

Ok, but for some reason I'm not seeing how to get the video, which I have saved in multiple places (in my Itunes as an mpeg-4, and as a Quicktime video on my desktop, and as a movie project in my Imovie '06) into Powerpoint?
