Getting a Mic to work on a macbook

I can't seem to get my mic on my headset to work, Ive tried using the system preferences and still no luck. When I asked at the mac store, they just suggested to use the driver from the company website, well I can't seem to find any website. so if anyone has any suggests on how I could find a driver, or get it to work with out one, that would help.

Are they USB only hookup? Are you trying to use it in OSX or in Windows? Seems most websites selling the headset have the same picture but not a lot of details about the headset itself... I could tell that it draws power from the USB but not necessarily if it used an existing sound card or its usb connection offered another sound device on the system
