Hello, just a quick question...

I have just installed iTunes (onto an XP PC) and added all my music files.

Can I now delete the files from 'my music' (except the itunes folder of course)?

Just wanted to be sure?

Hello, please search this section of the forums for the 6-7-8 threads about iTunes making copies of your files when the option is checked.

edit: I just did and it took me 30 seconds. Not to sound like a lalala but this question has been answered multiple times.

Unless you have changed the default values in iTunes' preferences, the short answer to your question is "yes."

The quick way to verify will be to right click and select 'Get Info'. This will provide you with the location of the files iTunes is using.

Or just use Windows Explorer and verify for yourself that you indeed do have a copy in both places prior to deleting anything.
