What does 3 G mean? I am thinking of getting an ipad when it comes out and am not sure which one to get wifi of wifi and 3G.

3G is a wireless cellular data service. It refers to the speed, and signal type, in which data is sent to mobile devices (such as cell phones and laptops)

Yes it is a service you pay for through your cellular carrier.

Yes and No for that question. It depends on where you are when you are trying to do the download. If you are at home or somewhere with free wifi you do not need it. But if you are out at a park, a restaurant or even family with no wifi you would need the 3g to connect to the internet to do a download.
