Does anyone know if you can install Tiger over firewire. I have a family pack with 5 lic' which is fine for the G4 ibook and iMac and I also have one G3 Power mac without a DVD drive. Tried over the network and although the install disk is recongised - no go.

Can you split up the files on the DVD onto multiple CD's?

Otherwise try using CarbonCopyCloner: Boot the Powermac G3 into firewire target disc mode (reboot and hold T after the startup chime) and clone the iMac's drive onto the G3's drive.

But you'll lose the files on the Powermac...

Yes, Tiger will install from a firewire disk if you copied the DVD disc to a partition on the firewire drive using Disk Utility. Actually, it installs much faster than the DVD. On my Mac mini, it installs in 3-4 minutes.
