It's baaack: Mac OS X 10.2.8 re-released
October 3, 2003 - 16:16 EDT* Apple on Friday re-released Mac OS X 10.2.8 after pulling the update last week due to ethernet problems. "The 10.2.8 Update (Build 6R73) includes an updated ethernet driver for 450MHz and 500MHz dual processor Power Mac G4 desktop systems and an update to the battery status menu," according to the release notes. Version 10.2.8 is available via the Software Update preference pane. For the complete list of enhancements in v10.2.8, see our previous reported. Update: Apple has also posted Mac OS X 10.2.8 Server and v10.2.8 for Power Mac G5s (previously unavailable for the G5s).

My Comments: So far I haven't had any problems with the update..

Should I trust this update? What new features come with it? I don't really know if I should bother upgrading

Plus I'm scared, I don't want my machine to blow up :p

The 10.2.8 update probably fixes the ssh and ssl vulnerabilities and more than likely has important updates. Patches are good, just not the day after they are released. I would say that since 10.2.8 has been released for the second time, it should be safe now.

I must admit that I'm a little nervous about installing this update as well. But, that isn't stopping me. I know I can reinstall everything if I have to. And there's a somewhat irritating power save 'feature' with the audio driver for my powerbook that I'm hoping 10.2.8 might give me the oppurtunity to deactivate. Here goes... :)
