New imac has a low beep noise.

I have been using my new imac for a week now, and when I am using it I occasionally hear a low grade beep in the background. It sounds like the plucking of a guitar base string. Sometimes it beeps once, sometimes twice. It does not seem to be associated with any particular application I am working with. Is this happening to anyone else with a new imac?

Click the mail button in the dock. The sound your describing could be mail.
