Hi, I'm a newcomer to this forum. I've recently upgraded my beloved G-4 (born: Dec. 1992) by purchasing a new MacPro desktop. The info I've researched so far says I can easily transfer data, files, software, etc. between the two machines by connecting them via the firewall connectors. Trouble is, they seem to be different for the two machines.

The firewall ports on the G4 seem to be six-pin rectangular connectors with one side of the rectangle rounded. The MacPro firewall connectors appear to be smaller (possibly 4-pin?) rectangular connectors with all corners square but I've not found anything in my searches of firewall accessory sources that tell me exactly what kind of cable/connectors I need?

Can anyone tell me what I need to connect NewMac and OldMac? Thanks in advance.

Allan,

See if you can find a FireWire 400 to 800 cable for cheap to connect the two.

FW400 = the rounded rectangle jack (6-pin)
FW800 = the squarish one

If not find a FW800 cable and a FW400 adapter to fit onto one end.
