Changing Folder Icons in Dock

I dragged my "Applications" and "Downloads" folder from the finder window into the dock to create a shortcut. But automatically, their icon is changed to that of first file contained in them.
In "Applications", the icon is changed to that of "Address Book" because that is the first file in that folder. Similar thing is happened to "downloads". Can I somehow get back my original icons (a folder with 'A' written on it) and (a folder with downwards arrow)? Two finger clicking on that gives a lot of options but no option of changing the icon.

Right click > "Display as" > Folder

That should do the trick.
