I installed Win XP a few weeks ago when I got my iMac. In that time it's been very normal for the mac to boot to just a white screen when I first try to boot the windows partition. After I do a cold restart it's hit or miss. Sometimes it says there is a disc read error, sometimes it just loads Windows. Right now I can't get it to load at all. Does anyone have any experience / thoughts on this?

Have to be slightly more specific. Does the Windows loading screen come up? Is the keyboard responsive (caps lock light)? Disk read error is usually caused by two things: faulty hard drive or damaged MBR/system files.

In order to do anything at this point though, you'll need the Windows XP disc.
