So I got tired of my eMac being slow, and finally decided to do the only upgrade left....I overclocked it!

Good lord I was nervous as all shebang cutting the resistors....but it fired right up afterwords. Went from G4 1.25ghz to 1.5ghz. Runs smoother, and loads videos faster, both off the harddrive and YouTube.

My eMac is now G4 1.5ghz, 2gb ram, 320gb hdd, Samsung dvd burner with Lightscribe.

Next on the list is a fan controller to slow the fan down and make it quieter.

<Disclaimer: I did this to my technically out of date machine that is no longer in warranty and would probably be laughed out of the store if I took it in for repairs. Don't mod things just because I do.>

Not sure that I would turn down the fan on an overclocked machine. You'd be better off replacing the fan with a quieter (larger) one.

I'm not too worried lol. Everything I've found on eMac overclocking says that they run just fine with the fan down lower.

If mine does prove to be the exception and starts to overheat and lock up, I'll turn it back up some.

I'm just happy it works and is faster. Now I can put off getting something newer for a little longer :D

That's really cool. How long did the entire process take from start to finish?

Having had the thing apart so many times, I can have everything but the crt removed in like a minute. I'd prolly have to say it was 10-15 minutes though between shutdown and startup.....I couldn't find one of the resistors that had to be cut...cheeky devil was hiding in plain sight too...
